ARHA and Big Horn
Challenge Members to
Ride a Horse, Win a
Saddle

The
American Ranch Horse Association and
Big Horn, Inc., are providing ARHA
members with another reason to climb
into the saddle this year. Big Horn
is donating a new saddle to the ARHA
Saddle Log Program participant who
logs the most trail miles with his
or her horse in 2007. “ARHA developed the Saddle Log
Program to encourage people to enjoy
their horses and earn additional
recognition outside of the show
ring. The donation of a Big Horn
saddle to the rider with the most
miles is extra incentive for
participation,” said ARHA president,
Jerry Keeney.
Joining the Saddle Log program is
simple! Just fill out the enrollment
application and send it in with a
one-time $20 fee per horse/rider.
Once this is done, you and your
horse are ready to hit the trails!
It’s as easy as that to qualify to
win the Big Horn saddle,
certificates, patches, gift
certificates, and other awards from
ARHA. “Research tells us that there
are approximately four-million
horses being used as recreational
horses. The ARHA offers a wide
variety of options for these riders.
We at Big Horn share in the
association’s desire to encourage
and support these riders and are
proud to be affiliated with the
American Ranch Horse Association,”
explained Ernie Tracy, national
sales manager of Big Horn. Big Horn, Inc., was established as
a saddle manufacturer more than 50
years ago. The company has
approximately 240 styles of saddles
for western and recreational riders
that are available in local tack
stores and through online and
catalog retailers. Formed in 2004, the American Ranch
Horse Association promotes the
abilities of the all-around
versatile working horse in a
positive atmosphere where western
tradition is genuinely honored.
Rapidly growing with more than 4,200
members, ARHA hosts competitions,
clinics, and educational events
throughout the year. Learn more about the ARHA Saddle Log
Program and how to win a Big Horn

PRESIDENTS CORNER |

ARHA President's Message |
|
Hello Everyone,
I hope you all
have recovered
from the World
Show. WOW!! We
had an awesome
week, with sure
enough tuff
competition,
great
get-togethers
put on by the
charters, time
to visit with
old friends and
make new ones
and a terrific
new facility!
Hope everyone
enjoyed the
Miller Coliseum,
the vendors and
all the special
activities.
My hat goes off
to all the
office staff
(Erica Keeney,
Carrie Dowell,
Scott Keeney &
Debbie Smith),
World Show
Committee
(Brandon & Nikki
Sutton, Larry
Mitchell, Marvin
Butler, Ben
Bowman, Carrie
Dowell, Morning
Reda & Erica
Keeney), gate
official, Butch
Fluhr, ring
stewards, Eddie
Smith & Kim
Smith (no
relation), and
the judges
(Roger Elder &
Dale Barnett,
Mary Ann Cash
and Wayne
Whitehead); we
could not have
done it without
everyone’s hard
work and
cooperation. If
you see any of
these folks, let
them know how
much you enjoyed
your
week. Thank-you
can never be
said enough.
Exhibitors –
whether you are
a World Champion
or not, give
yourself a pat
on the back and
be proud. Did
you ever think
you would see
60+ horses in a
Ranch Riding
Class?
Thanks to all of
you, even in the
tough economic
times, this was
the largest
World Show yet.
If you did not
get along as
well as you
would have
liked, don’t be
discouraged,
instead step
back and take a
long look at
your training
program and ask
what can I do to
make this work
better for
myself and my
horse. Never be
too proud to ask
someone else for
their opinion or
help.There are a
lot of folks in
ARHA that are
more than
willing to help
you improve in
areas that you
may be having
difficulty in.
In some thoughts
that came to us
from Judge
Barnett, he said
“I can tell you
(and I hope
everyone will be
proud to hear)
that the
competition was
certainly very
close, and deep
in a lot of
classes. There
were several
classes where I
had 5 or 6
horses with
scores right on
top of one
another,with
only half point
difference in
the spread.” So
you all know
what that means,
practice,
perfect your
program and get
ready for a
tough 2009 World
Show!
Best Regards,
Randy
Cope,
2008 ARHA President
